These terms apply when you buy from shopcuratedlongisland.com. By placing an order you agree to them. We have kept them as plain as we can.
Who we are
Curated Long Island is a small, family-run home fragrance business based on Long Island, New York. Everything we sell is made by hand in small batches.
Orders
Placing an order is an offer to buy. We confirm it by email when we accept it. Occasionally we may need to decline an order — for example if an item has sold out, if there is a pricing error, or if we cannot ship to your address. If we do, you will not be charged, or you will be refunded in full.
Because everything is handmade in small batches, slight variations in color, wax surface, wood grain and label placement are normal and are not defects.
Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and do not include shipping or sales tax, which are shown at checkout. Payment is taken at the time of ordering through our payment processor. We do not see or store your card details.
We try hard to keep prices accurate. If an item is listed at an incorrect price, we will contact you before dispatching and give you the choice to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Shipping
We ship within the United States. Orders are usually made and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Delivery normally takes a further 3–5 business days. Full details are on our Shipping page.
Risk passes to you on delivery. If your parcel arrives damaged, tell us within 14 days with a photo and we will replace or refund it, including shipping.
Returns
You may return an unused item within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping is paid by you. For health and safety reasons, used products cannot be returned — this includes candles that have been lit, diffusers that have been opened or activated, sprays that have been used, and wax melts that have been warmed. Safe use of our products
Our products are home fragrance items, not cosmetics, food or medicine. Please follow the safety guidance on each product and its label.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from children, pets and anything flammable.
- Trim wicks to roughly a quarter inch before each burn and do not burn for more than four hours at a time.
- Keep diffuser oil and sprays away from eyes, skin and mouth, and do not ingest them.
- Fragrance oil can damage finished surfaces, plastics, leather and fabrics. Wipe up spills promptly.
- Test sprays on an inconspicuous area of fabric first.
We are not liable for damage or injury caused by use that does not follow this guidance.
Intellectual property
The Curated Long Island name, logo, product names, photography and website copy belong to us. Please do not copy or reuse them without our written permission.
Your account
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of New York.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here on the date you place your order.
